St. Pete BJJ Fundamentals Classes
At St. Pete BJJ, our Fundamentals Classes are designed to benefit students beginning their journey in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, while also offering valuable technical adjustments to more experienced students. Following a 16-week curriculum, our Fundamentals Classes build a solid foundation in self defense using the techniques that form the basics of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Students in our fundamentals classes will learn everything from escapes and sweeps, to throws and takedowns, to chokes and joint locks, in a controlled and safe environment.
Beginners are invited to join in any fundamentals class to begin their jiu jitsu journey. Here they will be paired with a senior student who will help them work through the techniques being taught. Fundamentals class format begins with a short warm-up, followed by a self-defense technique before moving onto the basic principals of grappling. For your first class a clean gi (uniform) will be provided to you. You can wear shorts under the gi if you prefer, and a t-shirt, rash guard or sports bra will provide extra comfort.
